The 48-hour self-tape, done right.

Two takes, one honest reader, eye-lines taped beside the lens — and never the night before a show. That is the whole routine, and it has booked me more work than any headshot ever did.
The setup fits in a carry-on: one daylight-balanced panel, a grey backdrop that never wrinkles on camera, and a reader who understands their only job is to keep the ball in the air. Tape the eye-line mark an inch from the lens, frame chest-up, and slate like you mean it — name, role, done.
“Casting watches the first eight seconds with their thumb hovering — earn the ninth.”
Send the full scene, never a montage, and label the file with your name first. If a deadline collides with a performance, tape the morning after — a rested take at hour thirty beats a wired one at hour six.
